Annett Kamenz competes in Ironman triathlon competitions worldwide.
She was the 4th overall female in the 2007 Seattle Marathon and hopes to achieve a podium finish at the Canada Ironman Championships in August of this year.

Coffee or tea?
Coffee (If this would be hydrating enough, I would drink it all day ;-))
Car you Drive?
My boyfriends’ Jeep…no money to buy my own (i.e. I would rather spend it on bikes and trips).
Favorite workout?
I just love to train, plus I love variety as well as challenges – so no particular favorite
One Dream You have?
Make the podium at an Ironman race (full or half) in the pro-division. (Once I’ve fulfilled this dream, I pick another ;-)!)
Who are your hero (es)?
I have no particular hero. But I admire different things in the people around me, people that I know and thus can actually form a realistic opinion about. With regards to sports one of my friends I admire is Swen Sundberg, because he is such a focused and hard training athlete, but at the same time still keeps a balance in life, and enjoys it all.
Best race?
So far - I’d say the Sylvan Lake Half Ironman with regards to triathlon; and the Seattle Marathon with regards to sticking to a race plan and doing a negative split.
Best thing about being an athlete?
Being in shape, and feeling healthy; followed closely by meeting a lot of like-minded, interesting people and getting to see exciting places.
My hip flexor
Favorite book?
No particular one, in general realistic stories about people’s lives. I wouldn’t make it through “Lords of the Rings”…
Favorite movie?
I love watching movies, and have many favorites, e.g. “Les invasions barbares”, “Wer früher stirbt, ist länger tot” (funny Bavarian drama), Death at a Funeral…
Favorite SoLo Flavor?
Peanut Power
How do Solo bars impact your training and performance?
For me, as for any other long-distance Triathlete, nutrition is key to ensure efficient training for an optimal race outcome. By constantly replacing essential nutrients which are depleted during exercising, the SoLo bars allow me to train hard for hours.
Also, because SoLo has a low GI, the glucose is released gradually into the blood stream, preventing unwanted energy highs and lows. The bars taste great and I find them easy to digest on the bike. My favorite is the Berry Bliss; I love the yogurt coating and fruity flavor.
Any words of wisdom?
I really like this quote from Mark Twain, since I very much agree with it ;-)!
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Mark Twain
